Iranian activist urges Quranic gathering with participation of international Quran experts

Following the postponement of the International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a Quran activist called for organizing a Quranic gathering with the participation of international Quran experts.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Following the postponement of the International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a Quran activist called for organizing a Quranic gathering with the participation of international Quran experts.

The competition was delayed to the recent US-Israeli orchestrated riots and terrorist incidents in the country that led to the martyrdom of a large number of people.

During the riots, copies of the Holy Quran were burned and a number of mosques were set on fire.

Fatemeh Shirazi, a Quran teacher and memorizer of the entire Quran, said in an interview with IQNA that the desecration of the Holy Book is an issue that all Muslims around the world must take a stand against and condemn.

Complaints should be filed in international circles against such heinous acts as they are tantamount to attack on Muslim lands, she underlined.

There must be proper reactions to these sacrilegious moves so that the enemy front would not dare to repeat them, she added.

Referring to the postponement of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition as a result of the riots, she said that after the return of calm and easing of tensions, related officials should work to prepare another international Quranic event in honor of the Holy Book.

The final stage of the 42nd edition of Iran’s international Quran contest had been planned to be held concurrent with Eid al-Maba’ath (which fell on Saturday, January 17, 2026).

However, it was delayed after foreign-backed riots led to the martyrdom of Iranian people and security forces.

The International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is annually organized by the country’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.

The competition aims to promote the Quranic culture and values among Muslims and showcase the talents of Quran reciters and memorizers.
